BRAIN HARVEST (Synopsis)
A strange silent air-craft seems to be tracking Lisa McCarey, a young movie theatre employee.
After some frightening "close encounters", Lisa still manages to look forward to her scheduled
meeting with her long lost brother, Chane, whom she believes in living in poverty.
When she meets Chane, he is doing very well for himself, great clothes, a Mercedes, and a
highly positive outlook. He tells her he is working in medical research, on an obscure, very rare
gland, a pea-sized piece of tissue between the eye and the brain. It has no function. It doesn't
handicap or hinder the person born with it. He tells her that he has located one man with the
gland, a mean looking trucker named Reggie. (In a flashback, we see Chane hunt Reggie
down. The handsome Chane uses a mysterious ray to immobilize Reggie.)
As Chane drives Lisa through the woods, a UFO follows them, and eventually immobilizes the
car. Chane is calm. Terrified, Lisa runs out of the car. Chane, assisted by creatures
resembling man-sized ants, corner Lisa, knock her out, and beam her up to the waiting UFO.
On board the UFO, Lisa finds a frightened Reggie. He tells her that they both have the gland,
which has incredible value to the aliens. Reggie is strapped down, on an operating table and
without any anesthetics, is operated on. A powerful drill is placed to his eye, and slowly drills
downwards (This is conveyed mostly off camera)
The gland is extracted from Reggie's corpse. Now, Lisa is placed on the table. She manages
to escape, and is chased through the spacecraft. She makes a blind, panicked motion to kick
out a window and dive out.
She splashes down in a lake in the middle of the night in Arizona. She swims out and gets to
the woods. The rest of the film finds her constantly on the run, ducking in and out of uninviting
territory. She knows Chane is targeting another person with the gland, a sweet little eight year
old girl named Cara. This double chase/rescue drives the second and third act of the film.
