| By Glenn Andreiev There is a big demand for faith-based films. Films that try to teach audiences what are the best, cleanest paths to take in this crazy life. The problem I have with most faith based films were they are too harmless and soft in tone as if the film-makers' target audience were a box of kittens. I felt if I did a faith based film, it would be crazy, off the hook, scaring people into doing good. In was mid July 2007. We tried to raise funds for a globe-trotting monster movie named KING TYRANT. In fact, a few months earlier, I had traveled to Rome and Paris with Shawna Bermender, the star of my last film, SILVER NIGHT to shoot material for a KING TYRANT trailer. That Europe footage was puzzle-pieced into my "faith" screenplay- THE DEED TO HELL. A screenplay was finished by early August, and since we were being self-funded, the project was ready to be shot in October. The cast included actors I used in past films- Frank Franconeri would play an unlucky thief, Ashley Wren Collins would be a careless groupie, and Films In Review editor Roy Frumkes would play an unhappy suburbanite. We cast new talent for us, local Huntington actors who made the picture shine- Greenlawn's Wendy Marquez plays one evil soccer mom, (Her real life son, Bryan Fitzgerald, plays one of her helpless kids) Farmingdale's Paul Askedall and Melville's James Rankin fill out the cast. The most famous cast member for THE DEED TO HELL has to be Michael Lohan, the father of Lindsay Lohan. He pops in towards the end of the film. The locations spread all over Long Island. An airline interior was filmed at Global Air in Lake Ronkonkoma, The Huntington Country Inn doubled for two Rome hotels, Huntington eateries (and drinking spots) like Chesterfields, Red, Quetzalcoatl, Skorpios, and Ariana filled out the film. A major portion of the film was filmed in Athens, Greece and at Hydra Island, about an hour from Athens. "A friend of mine at Skorpios Restaurant grew up in Hydra and had contacts there for hotels, locations and for somebody to play a hit man." remarked Glenn Andreiev on his location shooting. "In Hydra, it was basically just Shawna and I. The scene where her character chases my character, we simply switched turns as talent and camera operator." |
